We recently had the opportunity to be part of a big event for one of our healthcare clients. They embarked on a huge construction project that involved expanding their current location. The goal of this venture was to support their surrounding community by providing a facility that had additional space and expanded services. This endeavor was not only a big deal for their patients but also their internal staff. The marketing team wanted to capture the importance of this project and tell a story of its significance for all the employees that made up their health system.
We partnered with the marketing team to develop a video to share throughout the organization. One of the highlights of the video was the "topping off" ceremony where the construction crew installed the final beam on the new building. To help connect employees to the project, the marketing staff had offered them the opportunity to sign their names and write messages on the beam. We also interviewed members of the team from nurses to hospital leadership. Each of their roles plays a crucial part. We wanted to hear how this new building was going to affect their work in a positive way and how it was going to serve their patients much more efficiently.
The end goal? To share this commemorative story with the employees who comprised their hospital. Those who could not attend could still feel connected to this special moment. This compelling video illustrated not only how an expanded facility benefits their community, but also how without their employees and their work, none of this would be possible. It serves as a way to let their employees know they are all working towards the same values and objectives of their health system.
Video builds a story that is relatable, inspiring and educational to every member of the team. It is a medium that can easily be shared within a health system. Including video into your process can strengthen your training format, improve communication and increase employee engagement.
BEHIND THE SCENES:
According to a Deloitte Human Capital Trends report, 87% of organizations cite culture and engagement as one of their top challenges.
How connecting with your employees is valuable in the Healthcare industry:
1. Delivering your healthcare system’s story helps define your company culture and mission. Communicating your healthcare system’s core values helps your internal staff at all levels understand why their worth matters. As a result, employees provide a higher quality of service and care to patients.
2. Video is a great education piece for employees – it delivers complex information in an easy to follow format and creates better retention. Also, with multi-media options and mobile phones, this information can be accessed anytime and anywhere.
3. Regulations and processes are ever-changing. Internal communication is essential to ensure that every staff member stays up to speed on your health system’s organizational changes, overall goals and significant developments.
4. With so much happening on a daily basis, the information conveyed through video can provide concise, direct, and bite-sized content that is easier to digest for busy employees.
According to WeSpire, 57% of respondents wanted their employers to do more around employee engagement — a number that increases to an astonishing 76% among employees under the age of 30.
We would love to work with you on your next internal video project – from executive announcements, employee education/training, event coverage, and so much more.
